Ms. Christina Winkler

Professional Background

Ms. Christina Winkler is a PhD candidate in Holocaust and Genocide Studies at the University of Leicester (United Kingdom).  She possesses skills in German, English, Russian, Czech, and French.  While in residence at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, Ms. Winkler conducted research on her project, “The Holocaust in Rostov-on-Don.”

Fellowship Research

For her L. Dennis and Susan R. Shapiro Fellowship at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies, Ms. Winkler used the central archives of the Federal Security Services of the Russian Federation Records Relating to War Crime Trials in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe during WWII, 1942-1945, as well as Selected Records of the Extraordinary State Commission to Investigate German-Fascist Crimes Committed on Soviet Territory, 1941-1945, to prepare an exhibition about the Holocaust in Rostov-on-Don. The exhibition is a multinational joint project of the Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, the Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, and Tsentr Kholokost.

Ms. Christina Winkler was in residence at the Mandel Center from February 1 to April 30, 2015.
