Sources for Sachsenhausen prisoner research: Collections related to individuals include a list of c. 30,000 inmates who died between 1936 and 1942. Another list, found in the GARF archive in Moscow, includes name lists of inmates who were in the camp after 1942. According to Monika Schmidt, a researcher for the Sachsenhausen memorial, a collection of 'Effektenkammerscheine' (receipts for personal property confiscated from prisoners and stored in the personal effects warehouse) is currently being computerized. These documents include prisoner number and sometimes birthdate.
