Project in progress to register the Jewish population of the Tirol (western part of Austria), both for the Holocaust period and before. As of March 1996 there were 2000 names in the database. Of these some sixty-eight individuals were deported to a concentration camp (2/3 perished); c. one hundred and thirteen emigrated. Sources for this project include Nazi racial lists, police registration lists, newspapers, Jewish community records and cemetary records. There is a plan to combine this database with a similar one containing the names of c. 2000 Jews of Vorarlberg (westernmost part of Austria bordering Switzerland). Dr. Thomas Albrich has agreed in prinicple to share this database. SO to follow up with internet message
