Abstract:
Memorial book to the Jewish Holocaust victims and survivors from Hagen, Germany. Contains various name lists. p. 5 alphabetically lists Jews, originally from Hagen, who were deported to Poland from Cologne or Hagen in Germany, or from an intermediate point in Belgium, France, or the Netherlands. Entries include former Hagen street address and date of deportation. (A similar list exists in this book for deportees to Theresienstadt.) An additional listing shows the names and former Hagen addresses of 44 'Jews of German citizenship who, after the Treaty of Saint Germain became Polish citizens, were expelled to Poland and later died there. Prior to their expulsion, they had had their residence in Hagen for years.' Three Jews from Hagen who committed suicide are listed. Entries include date and place of death (e.g. Hagen or Dortmund). Two Hagen Jews who perished while in German prisons are also listed. Entries include date and place of death (e.g. Hagen or Bochum). Refugees who emigrated abroad are listed as well. Entries include former Hagen street address, year and country of emigration, and current (at time of publication) address--even street address, where known. Former Hagen residents who managed to flee but died before war's end are also listed, including date and place of death.
