Provenance:
- This list was provided to Aufbau for publication in three parts by the Luxembourg Representative Committee of the World Jewish Congress, from which further information concerning these persons could be sought.
- From September 1, 1944 through September 27, 1946, the German-language newspaper Aufbau, published in New York City, printed numerous lists of Jewish Holocaust survivors, as well as a few lists of victims. These lists, which include 33,557 names in total, were computerized and proofread by staff and volunteers of the Survivors Registry of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. from 1997 to 1999. A searchable database of these names can be found online at http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/holocaust/aufbau.htm. Data compiled from this source is also included in the "USHMM namesearch" online system (Staff Version: http://staff.ushmm.org/namesearch/; Public Version: http://www.ushmm.org/namesearch/) as the data set titled: "Aufbau: A list of the locations of Holocaust survivors and victims from the Aufbau German language publications of the 1940s."

Abstract:
Part one of three (surnames Aach to Levy) of an alphabetical name register of Jews who lived in Luxembourg prior to WWII and who then fled to France at the outbreak of war on May 10, 1940. Included in these listings are not only citizens of Luxembourg, but also Dutch, German, Austrian, French, Russian, Polish, Hungarian and stateless persons who were residing in Luxembourg. Although not stated as such, it is presumed that the persons listed survived the War. Entries include name, date of birth and place of birth. (See also sources numbered AA0149 and AA0159).
