Weisbecker, c1986), but has been expanded with additional research. Although primarily comprised of Jewish victims, this register of the dead also includes the names of many non-Jewish victims known to have been killed in the former Jewish training facility at Ahlem after it had been transformed into a Gestapo jail, including 86 Italian, Polish and Soviet forced laborers of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp's Ahlem Subcamp, who were shot or hanged on the premises. A list of sources ('Historische Fotos und Dokumente') is given on p. 94. Abstract:
Memorial volume commemorating the Jewish community of the districts of Hannover and Ahlem (including Hildesheim) and the community's 'Israelitische Gartenbauschule' [='Jewish Agricultural School'], known originally and until 1919 as the 'Israelitischen Erziehungsanstalt' [='Jewish Training Center'], covering the 100 years since the institution's founding, 1893-1993, including the Nazi period when the facility was transformed into a Gestapo jail, and which is now the site of a memorial. Book contains "Namen der Ermordeten aus den Regierungsbezirken Hannover und Hildesheim" [="Names of the murdered from the governmental districts of Hannover and Hildesheim"] (p. 58-89), which is arranged alphabetically and includes birthdate and maiden name (where appropriate). Although primarily comprised of Jewish victims, this register of the dead also includes the names of many non-Jewish victims known to have been killed in this former Jewish training facility at Ahlem after it had been transformed into a Gestapo jail, including 86 Italian, Polish and Soviet forced laborers of the Neuengamme Concentration Camp's Ahlem Subcamp, who were shot or hanged on the premises.
