The Germans took over Lepel July 3, 1941. A ghetto was put on the outskirts of the town for all the Jews who were left. On February 28, 1942 the ghetto was liquidated. A memorial stone was erected at the site, next to the town of Chernorutchye, about 8 km. south of Lepel', on the right side of the road to Vitebsk/Minsk". As of March 31, 2000, no further information on the sources used to compile the list is available.
