Provenance:
Most of the names were derived from a little-known census of August 1941 with additional data from archives in Latvia, Israel, Germany, Poland and the U.S., as well as from survivors. Author's methodology for recovering victims' names is described in "Note to Librarians", p. [v], with an additional susequent explanation published as "Who died in the Holocaust: Recovering Names from Official Records", in: Holocaust and Genocide Studies (2003, v.17, n.1, pp. 114-138), also available online in PDF format at http://www.liepajajews.org/Who_Died.pdf.
