- "BACKGROUND: In October, 1942, the Bucharest Jewish Gazette published a list of Jewish males between the ages of 18 and 50. The direct translation of the heading in the Gazette was 'The lists of names of the Jews, aged 18-50, who have to report from today to the Bucharest recruitment board. The carrying out of the compulsory labor will be checked.'
- DATABASE: The data for this collection includes the names of males born between 1896 and 1922. Our database is limited to those years only, although other years were probably published in the Gazette that we do not have copies of. The left-most and right-most columns were partially cut off so we attempted to save as much data as possible. Each name in the Gazette was followed by a number in parenthesis. We are not sure what that number represents but is included in this database as "Unidentified Number".
- The fields of the database are as follows: Year of Birth, Number, Surname, Given Name, Address, Unidentified Number, Comments. [...] This information is accessible to you today thanks to the efforts of the following JewishGen: Nolan Altman (coordinator) and Edward Mitelsbach."--Bucharest_Gazette_-_Intro..doc [available to authorized Museum staff on the USHMM Computer Network in the folder S:\DATA\REGLISTS\Bucharest\].
