Created by the Department of Homeland Security's Office of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (previously the Immigration and Naturalization Service or INS) and its predecessor organizations, these microfilmed records were acquired by the Registry of Holocaust Survivors from the History Office and Library of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) in January 2006 largely due to the efforts of Ms. Marian L. Smith, the USCIS Senior Historian. These microfilmed records were transferred by the Survivors Registry to the USHMM Archives in May 2006. Abstract:
Consists of 'Form G-153' index cards filed by immigrant aliens (including Holocaust survivors) listing any and all foreign residences and occupations held between 1940 and 1968 (or their date of entry into the United States), arranged according to country of former residence outside of the United States and broken down thereafter by city and occupation. As of December 2006, this collection is not yet searchable by name.
