Computer file in MS-Excel format compiled by Survivors Registry Volunteer Peter Landé in December 2006 from a portion of the USHMM Archives Microfilm Collection RG 43.049M, titled "Dessins et documents, des enfants dIzieu [microform] = Drawings and documents of the children of Izieu, 1927-1990." The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum received the microfilmed collection from Monsieur Philippe Bélaval, Director General of the Bibliothèque nationale de France, on Oct. 17, 1996. Monsieur Bélaval attended the opening of the exhibit "Treasures from the Bibliothèque nationale de France" at the Library of Congress in 1996 and had occasion to visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. "Deeply impressed" by his visit, Monsieur Bélaval was moved to donate the collection to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum as a gift from the Bibliothèque nationale de France.

Abstract:
- Despite the title of the collection from which these names were derived, "Dessins et documents, des enfants dIzieu [microform] = Drawings and documents of the children of Izieu, 1927-1990." (USHMM Archives RG-43.049M ; Acc. 1996.A.0491), this computer file of names was derived from a portion of that collection that has no direct connection with the famous children's orphanage of Izieu and instead lists refugees in various other locations throughout southern France, including Alet des Bains, Anvers, Montpellier, Rivesaltes, St. Cyr, St. Elon and St. Pargoire.
- The list was compiled by Mrs. Zlatin, who worked as a nurse in southern France helping Jews to hide and escape. Only later did she go to Izieu, and this explains why the present material ended up within the Izieu children collection. The microfilmed records from which this computer file was derived were handwritten and often difficult to read, and includes some additional information and notations not entered into the database (e.g. "has applied for visa" or "father died in 1936"). Accordingly, researchers discovering names of interest in this database are encouraged to also refer to the originals or microfilm for the fullest possible information. This database includes only entries for family name, given name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, location, comments and later information.
