Abstract:
Several alphabetical name registers by town of Jews arrested in Rouen, France and nearby towns and villages of the current Seine-Maritime département (until 1955 known as "Seine-Inférieure" or "S.I.") of the Normandy region of France. Apart from Rouen, other towns and villages whose arrested Jewish inhabitants are listed are, in order: Elbeuf, Le Havre, Etratat, Yerville, Liliebonne, Ecrainville, St-Jouin-sur-Mer, Montivilliers, Yport, Sanvic and Bolberg. Presumably, all of the persons listed were thereafter deported from France to Auschwitz. These lists are accompanied by a cover letter dated 26 January 1943 concerning "Arrestations des Juifs de la S.I." [= "Arrests of the Jews of Seine-Inférieure"] signed by A. Coulon, Regional Delegate of Rouen for the Vichy-sponsored General Commissariat for the Jewish Question. Also included in this folder is an apparently unrelated letter dated 24 December 1946 from Hilversum, Netherlands to a Mr. [Moritz] Dembowitz signed by A. Kamerman concerning "The Treblinka Song" and Ecouis [perhaps the children's home and orphanage located there?]
