Abstract:
Searchable name register of members of the Polish 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division (Polish: 3 Dywizja Strzelców Karpackich, sometimes also translated as '3rd Carpathian Infantry Division'), which was an infantry division of the Polish Armed Forces in the West that fought during World War II on the Italian Front. It was formed in 1942 of the Polish Independent Carpathian Brigade and the forces of Lieutenant-General Wladyslaw Anders' Polish 2nd Corps evacuated from the Soviet Union. The division participated in the North African and the Italian Campaigns (1941–1945) as part of the British Eighth Army. Notable actions in Italy include the victories in the Battle of Monte Cassino, Ancona and Bologna. Alphabetically ordered name entries may contain birth year, rank, unit and other information, including occasional portraits. Separate alphabetical portrait sections are also found under the links for 'zdjecia zolnierzy' and 'Zdjecia nadeslane przez Czytelników [...]'. Wartime fates of individuals are occasionally noted (e.g., 'zm. 30.6.1943' [in full: 'zmarl 30.6.1943'] indicates 'died June 30, 1943', while 'pol. 8.11.1944' [in full: 'polegl 8.11.1944'] indicates 'fell in action November 8, 1944'.
