I searched the name "Menucha Kaufman" under the Lodz ghetto database. I searched her full first and last name. There was only 1 name that matched my search. I further researched that name and found out that she was born in the year 1928. This means that she was at the age of 14 when she signed her name. I cross-referenced it with the age a student would be in school #8B. This age correlated with the age of a typical student in school #8B. Since the age matched, it is probable that Menucha was a student in school #8B. In addition I discovered the ghetto address to be:

Richterstrasse, 2, 2

Ceglana, 9

I agree! Even a search of M* Kaufman born between 1925 and 1935 turns up this person as the most likely match for the name that was signed. Thank you for your thorough note on your process. I look forward to seeing what you find in the next stages.

In my next stage of research, I discovered that Menucha may have a potential sister named, Bajla Chawa Kaufman. She was born in 1924 which makes her 4 years younger than Menucha. Both of these sisters have the same street name from the ghetto address : Richterstrasse.

In addition, I also discovered that she was sent to Chelmno, Poland on March 28, 1942 on transport number 40/2. This was based from secondary sources. Also based on secondary sources the sizes of the transports contained more than 24,650 people. In addition, all of the victims in the transports were killed in gas vans. It is then most likely that Menucha was killed in a gas van.

Excellent work on all counts. Thank you for helping to complete Menucha's record. If you like, you may now complete a biography on Menucha's profile page recounting the information you uncovered in a narrative form.
