By searching the last name Turbowicz on the fuzzy setting, I was able to find a Mowsza Turbowicz listed that was of the appropriate age to have attended Gymnasium at the time of the album signing (he was born in 1926). I googled the name Mowsza to see what other names were similar in Yiddish and Polish, and was able to find that Mojzesz and Moshe are, in fact, names that have the same meaning and are similar to Mowsza.I double checked the Lodz Ghetto database (which is identical to the USHMM database) and saw that there were only 4 exact matches for the last name. Again, Mowsza was the only individual listed with the last name that was of the appropriate age range on that database as well.

After finding the names in Yiddish that were similar to Mowsza, I googled the names Mosche, Moshe, and Mojzesz. I was able to find a link that led me to Marian Turski on the Voices from the Lodz Ghetto:Conversations with Survivors portion of the USHMM site. Marian's biography states that he was born Moshe Turbowicz, year of birth 1926, parents Eliasz and Helena Rachel (in the database there is only one other woman listed at his address-Estera Rachel, but the names are relatively similar), his brother was named Wolf, and not only did he survive Auschwicz but also forced marches to Buchenwald and Theresienstadt. The only 4 people that I found while looking for his family in the Lodz Ghetto database shared the exact same names as the individuals listed by Marian Turski. Therefore, I believe that Mojzesz is actually Moshe Turbowicz (a.k.a. Marian Turski).

By looking at seconday sources, I was able to see that (based on registration number) that Mowsza's transport of 247 people was officially registered in Auschwitz on September 7,1944 after being held pending transfer. His exact deportation date and transport number are still a bit foggy, though. In his survivor transcript, it is noted that his father (Eliasz) and brother (Wolf) perished upon arrival to Auschwitz. I was able to find a Rachel Trubowicz listed as a survivor that shared all of the same personal information as Mowsza's mother. She was liberated in April 1945 from Saltzwedel.

According to the survivor account, secondary sources, and the USHMM Ecyclopedia (I checked for exact dates and timeframes), Mowsza was sent on a forced death march from Auschwitz to Buchenwald in January 1945 (timeline states that the march began on January 17,1945 when the Soviet forces atrted closing in), and then he was sent on a death march from Buchenwald to Theresienstadt in April 1945 (dates are listed as between April 6-10 with approximately 15,000 inmates being forced to march). This was done with the American forces closing in on Buchenwald. Marian Turski (aka Moshe/Mowsza Turbowicz) was liberated on May 8,1945 by Soviet soldiers from Theresienstadt.

Marian Turski (a.k.a Mowsza Turbowicz/Moshe Turbowicz) went back to Lodz following his Liberation from Theresienstadt, where he reunited with his mother. Marian went on to marry a Warsaw survivor named Halina. Since his Liberation, Marian remained in Poland where he has spent his life as a Historian, Journalist, Jewish Activist, Chairman of the Jewish Historical Institute Association in Warsaw, member of the International Auschwitz Council, member of the Association Board that oversees the Wannsee Conference Center, and member of the Council of the Museum of the History of the Polish Jews.He was recently honored with the French Legion of Honor in March 2012.
