Zysa and Zofia are two other possibilities. Zofia was born on July 10, 1925 and lived at HIRTEN 15 21 and SUD 4. Zysa was born on July 23, 1927 and lived at MATROSEN 13 4. There were two Zyslas which we found to be the same girl. All other information belongs to Zysla.

Expert Reviewer Comment:
I do believe that this is one possibility to be the student who signed the book. However, there are 3 other girls who could have also signed the book: another Zysla Pomeranc (1926), Zofia Pomeranc (1925) and Zysa Pomeranc (1927). All of their birthdays would put them in the correct age-range to have attended this school- is there any reason you left them out? I would feel comfortable with you adding their information to this file as well, and then commenting on whose data goes with who.

Also in the future, please add comments in the "Researcher comments" section. This not only helps us figure out what your steps were and why you recorded what you did, but it also helps other researchers see what steps you have already taken. Thank you for starting this file!

Excellent work based on your expert reviewer's comments. I look forward to seeing what you find for all three girls in the next stages.

We searched for the exact last name "Pomeranc" (no first name search; in the Student List her name was listed as "Z") and a birth year of 1930 +/- 5 years. We looked through all of the girl names starting with a Z born in 1926 and 1927 (she went to the all-girls gymnasium and high school, thus she had to be 14 or 15 when the card was signed) and found three: Zysa and two Zyslas. We came to the conclusion that the Zyslas are in fact the same girl; they have the same birth year and one Zysla's address is the same as the other Zysla's address after relocation. We're curious about this similarity, though. The change of address that one has is the permanent address of the other, and vice versa. How do we determine where she lived first? One says she started at Hausierer 6 8 and was moved on 21.11.42 to FISCH 17 and the other says she started at FISCH 17 and moved to Hausier 6 8 on 22.11.42. We did not find any information regarding deportation.

Is there a reason you did a birth year of 1930 +/- 5 years? The birth dates for students attending "Z's" school were 1921-1927. Searching those dates, that would give you 4 names, two Zyslas as you mention, one Zysa, and also one Zofia. I do believe that the two Zysla's are indeed the same girl. As you have mentioned however, it is impossible to know which place she lived first, all we know is the day that she moved, 21. 11. 42. I do believe however that you should add Zysa and Zofia to this file, and add their address and birthdays as well, then put in the comments section which information goes with which girl. We have know way of knowing if Zysla, Zysa, or Zofia signed the book, as all their names begin with a Z and their birthdays all make them candidates. Try searching all of their names in different sources and see if you can find out what happened to them and any family members you might find. Thank you for working on this file!

I agree with your expert reviewer--remember to enter information on all the stages for all the possible candidates until we can narrow down the list more. Thank you!
