Gender: boy
School:
School #6
School #6 taught boys and girls who were deaf or hard-of-hearing. Since it was the only school for children who were deaf in the Lodz Ghetto, its students ranged in age from 6 to 20 years old, and were born between 1921 and 1935.
School #6 was located at Ulica Limanoskiego 45. The street name was changed to Alexanderhofstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See
www.lodz-ghetto.com for a map of Ulica Limanoskiego and the rest of the Lodz ghetto.

User Comment:
Given his birthdate (1932), Szmul is the best match for the boy who signed the album. There is also a Samuel, but he was too old to have been in school.

I agree that you appear to have found the most likely match. Good job.

User Comment:
In the Lodz Ghetto Inhabitants database, there is notation indicating change of address or deportation on September 8, 1942. Secondary sources indicate that the large Gehsperre Aktion deportations took place during this period. Given that Szmul was both young and deaf or hard-of-hearing, it is overwhelmingly likely, in my opinion, that he was deported to Chelmno and killed there.

Again, I believe you have come to the most probably conclusion based on the available evidence. Good job!
