School #17 was a school for girls in the Lodz ghetto; school #17a met in the morning. In 1941, students ranged in age from 6 to 13 years old (most were 8 to 11 years old), meaning they were born between 1928 and 1935.
School #17 was located at Młynarska 25. The street name was changed to Mühlstrasse when German occupation began in 1939. See

User Comment:
The first and only name that came up when I searched Z. Wigdorowicz was Zlata Wigdorowicz born 3/7/1930 and she lived at Muhl 22 Flat 21 and Wesola 6. She was deported on TR 9 on 20/03/1942.

I agree that you have found the student who most likely signed the album. In 1941, she would have been the right age to attend school #17a. Please be careful about how you enter numbers--the record in the database lists her transport number as 19, not 9. Otherwise, great work.

User Comment:
The only person I found living at Muhl 22 Flat 21 was Liba Wigdorowicz (her mother) born 17/07/1903 and she was deported on the same day of March 20, 1942. According to the secondary sources Zlata and her mother were sent to Chelmno where they perished with over 24,000 other people in the gas vans.

I agree that Liba is the likeliest candidate for Zlata's mother. She also shares the Wesola 6 address, transport number, and date of deportation listed for Zlata. Thank you for helping to complete Zlata's record.
